Who are we?

We’re Sandrine and Julien, parents of three children, and for several years now we’ve been enjoying our adventures in our “house on wheels”.

Of all the many different ways to travel, this is truly the road trip way, with our house on our back, and the way which best suits our need for freedom, authenticity and escape.

Once upon a time, SwapTheRoad...

2004

Travelers meet on an Internet forum, the first exchange takes place between French & Quebecers

2014

Forum becomes inactive, ads fade into oblivion

2017

After France, Sandrine & Julien travel to Europe and dream of helping their children discover the world

2018

With 10 days off to visit southern Portugal, they decide to rent a vehicle on arrival at the airport

2019

They set out to discover the Americas in their own vehicle, and tested shipping three times.

2020

Confined to Paraguay for several months, they decided to give birth to their idea, enlisting the support of other world travellers

The SwapTheRoad identity

SwapTheRoad is based on a family organization, but above all on collaboration, since the platform was built by working with passionate travelers…

For us, they are the “pioneers” of SwapTheRoad. Some of them had already exchanged their vehicles in the past, and brought us their experience. Others shared their ideas and enthusiasm for making SwapTheRoad the trusted third party for their future swaps.

In fact, SwapTheRoad is an innovative solution created BY, WITH and FOR recreational vehicle owners!
